SONIC THEATRE PODCAST

All You Need Is To Listen.

Soundworlds is not just a podcast. It’s an audio stage for diverse stories told in extraordinary ways. It’s a place for an exciting new form of audio drama that we call sonic theatre.

Created by musicians, writers, theatre-makers and sound artists, sonic theatre pieces are more than radio plays. They’re immersive sound worlds, intoxicating blends of music and storytelling, sound design, documentary and fiction.

REMNANTS

Patrick Eakin Young

A three-part auditory excavation, unearthing the songs and stories of love and loss, buried beneath the soil of post-war Bosnia.

Combining memoir and documentary, traditional Balkan music and new composition, Soundworlds’ first release is based on Courtney Angela Brkic’s The Stone Fields.

Drawn to Bosnia by her family history, Brkic joined a UN forensics team helping to excavate the mass graves at Srebrenica. Yet among the horrors of war, she discovered remnants of an extraordinary romance between her Catholic grandmother Angelka and a young Jewish man, forced into hiding by the Fascists.

Remnants delves through layers of sound, song and new spoken testimony from Brkic herself, finding traces of love and hope submerged in the darkest chapters of 20th-century European history.

Soundworlds presents a new audio adaptation of the 2017 production by Pat Eakin Young/ERRATICA.
